User has QuickBooks Desktop Pro installed on a single laptop only no remote hosting of the company file. QuickBooks was recently upgraded from QuickBooks When printing checks the print on the checks is no longer aligned properly. The user is using checks to pay vendor bills.

The checks are three to a page situated landscape on the check paper stock. User is having this same printing issue on two different computers he prints to. Other documents sent to the printer are formatted correctly from QuickBooks or from Microsoft Word. Any idea as to what would cause this? QuickBooks tech support told the QuickBooks owner that they think it is the computer or the printer, not QuickBooks.

Make sure you are not using the generic printer driver Windows sometimes installs. Go to the printer manufacturer's website and download the correct driver. I've run in to problems like this before.

We usually go through this in newer versions of Sage50 accounting. QuickBooks works pretty good unless you upgrade to a new printer. By the way, Does it look correct when you do a print preview, or test print a check to a. PDF file? Good idea concerning the printer driver. I will check and will try the PCL 5 driver if not already using it. Thanks for the correction! My mistake. I should have said that I would try the PCL5 not the generic printer driver. HP only offered one driver for this printer.

I removed and added the printer but the problem continued. I did not find a print preview to use before printing. Not sure that it was caused by this but the printing problem occurred right after the upgrade from QuickBooks Desktop Pro to QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus was completed.

So, if you need the text to print higher on the check, move the grid down. If you need the text to print lower on the check, move the grid up. Once I understood that, I was able to align my checks quickly.

Here's a link to the YouTube video. The video was made by SLC Media. This is still happening for me and I cannot crack the code. The opposite movement isn't getting it. It's making me insane.
